Terms of Service

Last updated 15 August 2026

These are the terms you agree to when you use CampusFuel. The same document is readable inside the app, under Settings, so you never have to leave it to find out what you agreed to.

Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and PlateSync LLC, a limited liability company formed in Virginia, which operates CampusFuel. In these Terms, "we" and "us" mean that company, and "the app" means CampusFuel, which currently appears on the App Store as VTCals.

By ticking the box at sign-up, by creating an account, or by continuing to use CampusFuel, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the app.

Please read the sections on health, campus menu information, AI features, and limitation of liability carefully. They limit what you can rely on CampusFuel for, and they limit what we are responsible for.

Who can use CampusFuel

You must be at least 16 years old to use CampusFuel. If you are 16 or 17, you may only use it with the permission and involvement of a parent or guardian, and they agree to these Terms on your behalf.

CampusFuel is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly allow them to create accounts. If you believe someone under 16 has an account, contact us and we will remove it.

You agree that the information you give us during onboarding, your age, height, weight, goal and activity level, is accurate to the best of your knowledge. Your calorie and macro targets are calculated directly from those answers, so inaccurate information produces inaccurate targets.

You also confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

CampusFuel is not medical advice

This is the most important section of these Terms

If you have, or are recovering from, an eating disorder, please talk to your doctor or treatment team before using CampusFuel or any other calorie tracker. Counting calories and weighing yourself can be actively harmful for some people, and this app has no way of knowing whether you are one of them.

CampusFuel is a general wellness and food-tracking tool. It is not a medical device, it does not provide medical, nutritional, or clinical advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. Nothing in the app diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents any condition, and no part of it creates a clinical relationship between you and us.

You use CampusFuel, and make decisions about what and how much to eat, at your own risk. If something in the app conflicts with advice from your doctor or dietitian, follow your doctor or dietitian.

Your daily calorie and macro targets are estimates produced by standard public formulas applied to the answers you gave us. They cannot account for your medical history, medications, pregnancy or breastfeeding, injury, metabolic or endocrine conditions, allergies, disordered eating, or anything else about you that we do not know. Talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before starting any nutrition plan, and especially before making significant changes to how much you eat.

If you are struggling with food, eating, or your body, please reach out to someone. The Safety Center inside the app lists support resources, and Gentle Mode removes calorie and macro figures from the interface if numbers are unhelpful for you right now. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.

Wellness features are not a diagnosis

CampusFuel includes a passive care check-in that looks at patterns in what you have logged and may occasionally suggest you check in with yourself or visit the Safety Center.

That is a simple pattern signal, not a screening test and not a clinical assessment. It will miss people who are struggling, and it will sometimes prompt people who are perfectly fine. Never treat its silence as reassurance that nothing is wrong, and never treat a prompt as a diagnosis. It can be turned off in Settings, and turning it off changes nothing about the rest of the app.

The Safety Center lists third-party support organisations as a convenience. We do not operate them, we are not responsible for them, and listing one is not a recommendation or a guarantee of the care it provides.

Campus menu and nutrition information

CampusFuel collects dining hall menus and nutrition figures from the nutrition platforms that each university publishes itself, and refreshes them overnight. We pass that information along; we do not author it, cook the food, inspect any kitchen, or independently verify any figure in it.

That means menu and nutrition data may be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong. Recipes, portions, preparation and ingredients change without notice, a station may serve something different from what it published, a university may publish an error, and a school may publish nothing at all for a period. Where the app shows an item from a closed station, it is showing the last menu that station published rather than what is being served today.

Allergies and dietary restrictions

Never rely on CampusFuel for these. The app does not display ingredient or allergen information, dietary labels such as vegetarian or vegan are the university's claim rather than ours, and the nutrition data behind an item can be missing or inaccurate. Always confirm directly with your dining hall staff before eating something if a mistake would be harmful to you. If you have a food allergy, treat this app as if it does not know about it, because it does not.

Not affiliated with your university

CampusFuel is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by any university, college, dining services department, or food service contractor, including any school shown in the app.

University names, dining hall names, station names and school colours appear in CampusFuel only to identify the campus a menu belongs to, so that you can find your own food. All trademarks and other rights in those names remain with their owners.

Your university has no responsibility for CampusFuel, and nothing in the app should be read as a statement by them.

Packaged foods, barcodes, and other sources

Search results for general and packaged foods, including barcode lookups, are powered by the FatSecret Platform API. That data comes from FatSecret and its contributors, and is subject to the same caveat as everything above: treat it as an estimate, not as a label you have read yourself. Manufacturers reformulate products without changing the barcode.

If you connect Apple Health, CampusFuel reads activity and energy data from it to display alongside your logs. We do not write anything back to Apple Health, we do not send that data to our servers, and we never use it for advertising. You can revoke access at any time in the iOS Settings app.

AI features

CampusFuel includes AI features: a nutrition coach, and estimation of meals from a photo, a nutrition label, or a text description.

Everything these features produce is a generated estimate and can be wrong, including confidently wrong. A photo estimate is a guess at what is on a plate and how much of it there is. The coach can misread a menu, misjudge a portion, or give general nutrition information that does not fit your situation. Check anything that matters before relying on it, and never treat AI output as medical, clinical, or dietary advice.

The coach can offer to add a meal to your diary, but it never saves anything by itself, you confirm each one. Numbers it estimates are its best guess, not a measurement, and you are responsible for what you choose to save.

When you use these features, the relevant content, your message, your photo, and context such as your targets and recent logs, is sent to our AI provider to generate a response. Do not submit anyone else's personal information, anyone else's image, or any content you do not have the right to share.

AI features carry per-user daily limits so that the service stays available and affordable for everyone. You agree not to work around those limits, and not to use these features to generate harmful, unlawful, or abusive content, or to attempt to make the coach produce content that these Terms prohibit.

Your account

CampusFuel does not use passwords. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address, or with Sign in with Apple or Google.

Because the code in your inbox is what proves the account is yours, keeping your email account secure is what keeps your CampusFuel account secure. Do not share sign-in codes with anyone, no one from CampusFuel will ever ask you for one. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

Please create one account for yourself, do not share it, and do not use anyone else's. Tell us at the address below if you believe someone else has accessed your account.

Your content

What you put into CampusFuel, your food logs, custom foods and meals, weigh-ins, progress photos and coach conversations, stays yours. We do not claim ownership of it.

You give us permission to store and process that content for the purpose of running the app for you: showing you your day, calculating your totals, keeping your history, and generating the AI responses you ask for. That permission exists so the service can function, it is limited to that purpose, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

You are responsible for the content you add and for having the right to add it. Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or that depicts another person without their permission. We may remove content that breaches these Terms or the law, and we may do so without notice where the law requires it.

Feedback

If you send us a feature request, a bug report, or any other suggestion, you agree we may use it freely to improve CampusFuel, without owing you compensation, credit, or confidentiality. You keep your own rights in it; you are just not charging us for the idea.

Paying for CampusFuel

CampusFuel is a paid app. Using it requires an active subscription, sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Where a free trial is offered, you can use the app during the trial without paying.

Your purchase is handled by the store, not by us, the store takes the payment, manages renewals, and handles refunds under its own policies. We never see or hold your card details.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the period. You can view, manage, and cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings; uninstalling the app does not cancel it, and deleting your CampusFuel account does not cancel it either.

Where a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel first, and any unused portion of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription. Trials are not offered in every region and may not be available to everyone.

Prices are shown in the app before you buy and vary by store and region. We may change prices in future; a change never affects a period you have already paid for, and we will make any change clear before it applies to you.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by us. We can help you find the right place to ask, but we cannot issue a store refund ourselves.

If your subscription ends, because you cancelled it, because a payment failed, or because a trial ran out, your access to the app ends with it. Your information is not deleted when that happens: we keep it as described in the Privacy Policy, and it is waiting for you if you subscribe again.

Not paying never costs you the right to your own data. If you cannot reach the in-app controls because your subscription has lapsed, email us at the address below and we will send you a copy of your information, or delete your account, whichever you ask for.

Complimentary access, granted manually or through a referral code, is a courtesy rather than a purchase. It has no cash value, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged, may expire, and may be withdrawn if a code is abused or shared in bulk.

We may change what a subscription includes over time. If we remove something significant from a period you have already paid for, contact us.

Acceptable use

When using CampusFuel, you agree not to:

Our licence to you

Subject to these Terms, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use CampusFuel on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. We keep all other rights in the app, its content, and its branding.

Availability and changes to the app

We are always changing CampusFuel, and we may add, alter, or remove features. We may also suspend the service temporarily for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.

Much of what the app shows depends on systems run by universities and other third parties. When one of those goes down or changes, menus for a school can be missing or stale until it is fixed, and a school may be removed from the app entirely if its data stops being available. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access, and we are not responsible for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

Ending your access

You can stop using CampusFuel at any time, and you can delete your account from Settings inside the app, or by emailing us, if a lapsed subscription has put those controls out of reach. Deleting your account removes your profile, logs, custom foods, saved foods, weigh-ins, photo records and coach history, as described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription, cancel that separately in the App Store or Google Play.

We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or where we need to in order to protect the service or other users. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

Sections that by their nature should outlive the agreement, content licences you have granted, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution, survive the end of your access.

Privacy and health data

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. It forms part of your agreement with us, and it is worth reading alongside these Terms.

CampusFuel handles information about your body and what you eat. We treat that as sensitive, we ask for your consent where the law requires it, we do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising. Data read from Apple Health stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.

App Store and Google Play

These Terms are between you and CampusFuel only. They are not an agreement with Apple or Google, and those companies are not responsible for CampusFuel or its content.

Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for CampusFuel. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim you or a third party has relating to CampusFuel, including product liability, any failure to conform to a legal requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar law.

If a third party claims that CampusFuel infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and resolving that claim.

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and may enforce them against you.

Where you obtained the app from Google Play, Google's terms apply to that transaction in the same way, and Google is likewise not responsible for the app.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CampusFuel is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app will meet your requirements, that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that any nutrition information, target, menu, or AI-generated estimate in it is accurate, current, or complete.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CampusFuel and the people who work on it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or health outcomes, arising out of or relating to your use of the app, whether or not we were told such damages were possible.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to CampusFuel is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or twenty-five US dollars.

These limits apply to every kind of claim, including contract, negligence, strict liability, and any other legal theory.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities. Where that is the case, these limits apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CampusFuel and the people who work on it from any claim, loss, liability, or reasonable legal cost arising out of your use of the app in breach of these Terms, your violation of the law or of anyone else's rights, or content you submitted that you did not have the right to submit.

This does not apply to claims caused by our own breach of these Terms, and we will tell you promptly about any claim we seek indemnity for.

Resolving a dispute

Please contact us first. Most problems can be sorted out by email, and we ask that you give us 30 days to try before starting any formal proceeding. We will do the same for you.

If that does not resolve it, you and CampusFuel agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the app will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, administered by a recognised arbitration provider under its consumer rules, rather than in court. The arbitration will be conducted in English, and may be held remotely or in the state named below.

Disputes will be brought only on an individual basis. Neither of us may bring a class, collective, or representative action, and an arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over any form of representative proceeding.

Two exceptions: either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies, and either of us may ask a court for an injunction to stop misuse of intellectual property.

You can opt out of this arbitration and class-waiver section by emailing us within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, saying that you opt out and giving the email address on your account. Opting out costs you nothing and affects nothing else in these Terms.

If the class-waiver paragraph is found unenforceable, the whole of this dispute-resolution section does not apply, and any dispute goes to the courts named below instead.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the state and federal courts located there will have jurisdiction over any dispute not subject to arbitration, except where the law of the place you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally, which these Terms do not take away.

General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the unenforceable part is limited to the minimum extent necessary.

Our not enforcing something straight away is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

You may not transfer your rights under these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to a successor or an acquirer of the business, and your rights are unaffected by that.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about CampusFuel, and replace anything said earlier about it.

We may send you notices in the app or to the email address on your account; you can reach us at the address below.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the app changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page, and we will give notice in the app before a material change takes effect.

Continuing to use CampusFuel after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, you should stop using the app, and you may delete your account.
